Mushowani shoot to the top

HARARE - Mushowani Stars climbed to the top of the World Navi Northern Region Soccer League Division One after beating seasoned campaigners DStv Rangers 2-0 at Old Hararians on Saturday.

The Mashonaland Central based outfit is yet to taste a defeat this campaign after four weeks of action and they now enjoy a one point lead over second-placed Flame Lily and third placed new comers Bindura United.

Mushowani took full advantage of former log leaders Flame Lily’s slump. The Zimbabwe Prison Service-owned side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in the hands of army side Commando Bullets.

Mushowani started their campaign on a bright note, with three wins and one draw from four matches.

Last season, Mushowani proved to be a force to reckon in their debut campaign and remain one of the firm favourites to clinch promotion into the Premiership this season.

League debutants Bindura United continued with their fine start after beating seasoned campaigners Twalumba FC 1-0 at Chipadze Stadium.

Twalumba, who were also pre-season favourites to clinch the title this season, have had a bad start winning only one game during the third week against Chegutu Pirates.

They have lost two matches against league new comers, Seven Flames and Royal Classic respectively.

Former Premiership side Gunners and Black Mambas, now known as ZRP FC played to a goalless draw at Morris Depot.

Results: Commando 2 Flame Lilly 1, Dstv Rangers 0 Mushowani 2, Bindura 1 Twalumba 0 Ngezi Platinum 3 Seven Flames 0, DC Academy 2 Royal Classic 0, Black Mambas 0 Gunners 0, Lake Harvest 1 ZRP Morris 0, Chegutu 0 Blue Swallows 0
