Lloyd Mutasa wants Ralph Kawondera

ZVISHAVAVNE - FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa has recommended Ralph Kawondera to the club’s executive as a replacement for the sacked Masimba Dinyero.

Speaking after his side’s first victory of the season, a 2-1 win over CAPS United at Mandava Stadium on Saturday, Mutasa said:

“Yes, it’s true that I have recommended Ralph. I know his capabilities. We have worked together for a long time and I know what he will bring to FC Platinum. We have a deep understanding of each other, having played together since junior football.”

Mutasa sacked  his assistant Dinyero last week, fuelling talk that bad blood had developed between the two over claims that Dinyero was eyeing his boss’s job following a bad start to the season. Mutasa, however, insists his decision was based on professional grounds.

Saturday’s win over CAPS seemed to vindicate Mutasa, and the former Dynamos midfielder admitted that the result was a relief for him.

‘We badly needed this victory,” he said. “We needed something to kick-start our season which had somehow gone off the rails. We have been playing well but we were allowing soft goals and also the confidence was fading especially after the Hwange game, where they came from behind to beat us.”
