Wife scalds hubby with cooking oil

HARARE - An Epworth woman is facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly scalded her husband with hot cooking oil following an altercation over infidelity.

Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe asked the 21-year-old woman Grace Muchawa to apply for bail at the High Court.

Muchawa is accused of attempting to kill her husband Bairon Mugoma on April 7, this year.

According to prosecutor Sharon Mashavira, the incident took place at around 11pm, when the two had an altercation, after Mugoma received a phone call from his former girlfriend.

The two exchanged harsh words, leading to Mugoma leaving the house. However, Muchawa locked the house and denied Mugoma the chance to leave.

Mugoma retired to bed and while he was fast asleep, Muchawa boiled cooking oil. She allegedly poured the hot liquid on Mugoma’s face.

The court heard that Mugoma suffered burns all over his head.

He was later accompanied by his brother to report the matter to the police, leading to Muchawa’s arrest.

Muchawa, who is represented by Obey Shava, was remanded in custody to May 22.

Gentlemen, never entertain calls from former girlfriends particularly at midnight. Should a former girlfriend try to be funny and phone just tell her off in the loudest voice possible. As you tell her off make sure you shake with anger. You can also give your wife the phone so that she deals with the idiot there and then. If you cannot do the above, then you are guilty as charged and you will be scalded with boiling water should you be stupid enough to sleep at home!

You, Denford, you're a Satanist. You're saying that pouring hot oil on someone's face is a justifiable act. Under no circumstances is it justifiable to do this. Lock this witch up and throw away the key.

That woman needs an anger management serious talk with her aunties just as in the good old days. Problems will always be there but you do not solve them through the use of violence.

@ Joe Black. You are obviously one of those with multiple girlfriends. Women feel humiliated if the husband sleeps around. Please have feelings for them. All I am advocating is for men to behave well. I understand people's anger and I know what a scorned woman does though I do not recommend the hot water prescription on my worst enemy. By the way, sleeping around and causing diseases and disharmony in the family is also SATANIC. Reproductive organs are weapons of mass destruction if irresponsibly used, Joe Black.

A fool as well as a Satanist. Congratulations. Put your foolish misconceptions aside, disregard your stereotypes, and think! You are justifying behaviour which is ATTEMPTED MURDER or MURDER when it succeeds. Are you a human being? Satan
