Flame Lily maintain fine start

HARARE - World Navi Northern Region Soccer League Division One log leaders Flame Lily continued with their good start to the season after beating Lake Harvest 1-0 over the weekend.

The prison services outfit is yet to taste a defeat this campaign after three weeks of action.

Flame Lily, who were runners’ up last season, won 1-0 against Premiership side Black Mambas, now known as ZRP FC, in the first game before they got the better of Starbill 2-0 during the second week.

ZRP FC started their season relatively well winning two games, drawing one and are two points behind log leaders.

It might be too early but the NSRL title race is promising to be a closely -contested affair.

Three teams (Seven Flames, Mushowani and ZRP FC) have so far collected seven points, with newly promoted Bindura United, Royal Classic and former Premiership side Gunners are breathing down their neck all with six points.

Twalumba, who were also pre-season favorites to clinch the title had a bad start, winning only one game last weekend against Chegutu and lost their previous two matches against league new comers, Seven Flames and Royal Classic respectively.

Results: Blue Swallows 2 Dstv Rangers 1, Mushowani 2 Commando 1, Flame Lilly 1 Lake Harvest 0, ZRP Morris 0 Starbill 0, Karoi 0 Black Mambas 1, Gunners 3 DC Academy 2, Royal Classic 1 Ngezi Platinum 0, Seven Flames 3 Bindura 2, Twalumba 2 Chegutu 0.
