Mukambi late brace deny Platinum first win

BULAWAYO - Tendai Mukambi scored twice for Chicken Inn late in the game as the Bulawayo outfit salvaged an unlikely draw 2-2 against winless FC Platinum in a Castle Premiership match here yesterday.

Mukambi rose from the bench to score a brace to earn Joey Antipas’ side a point against Platinum, who have not won in the league three matches into the new Premiership season.

Despite Chicken Inn dominating possession throughout the first half, it was Platinum who snatched an early goal through Walter Musona in the 19th minute before Donald Ngoma doubled the miners’ lead just after the hour the mark.

Still on cloud nine following their Independence Cup win over Dynamos on Friday, Platinum looked like they would roll over the hosts.

But substitute Mukambi was at hand to deny them.

Mukambi pulled one back for the Gamecocks with a header on 86 minutes before breaking Platinum hearts in injury time after powering home another header.

The match was however delayed after the referees who had been assigned failed to turn up.
