Masvingo artiste releases debut gospel album

MASVINGO - Rookie gospel musician Phanos Matura has released a six-track debut album titled Kunamata Kwakangwara.

The new gospel artiste, who was backed by Prosperity Family, recorded the promising album at Unique Studios based in Zimbabwe’s oldest town.

Matura is convinced that the album launched in the city last week has the competitive edge necessary to make waves in Zimbabwe’s music industry.

“This is the first album in my music career and I hope it will have a strong impact,” said Matura.

“The album has six powerful songs that seek to preach God’s word. In my songs, I urge people to always remember that God is special and that he must always be worshiped.”

The six songs on the album are: Takarima Zvakawanda, Mwari Samasimba, Huyai Tinamate, Makatisika Baba, Keep on Praying and Toonana.

The first track Takarima Zvakawanda is a perfect blend of well-honed vocals and instruments. In the song, Matura says hard work without the blessings of God will come to nought.

He urges people to entrust their work in God because that is the only way to guarantee prosperity and blessings.

In the tracks Mwari Makasimba, Huyai Tinamate and Keep on Praying, the Masvingo-based gospel star, hammers home the fact that life on earth is temporary and that people should always worship God for them to go to heaven after death.

Matura told those who attended the album launch ceremony that the just-released album is a reflection of his status as a staunch believer.

“I have always loved music since I was a child and because I am a Christian who strongly believes in the power of the Almighty, I chose gospel music so that I could use it to spread the word of God,” he said.
