How Mine, Bantu hope to bounce back

BULAWAYO - A derby is on the cards when Castle Premiership returnees Bantu Rovers take on neighbours How Mine at Luveve Stadium this afternoon.

The match promises to be a thriller as both teams will be looking for the first set of points this season.

Both How Mine and Bantu lost their opening matches at home with a similar 1-0 score line at the hands of Harare sides Dynamos and Black Rhinos respectively.

How Mine have a slight advantage over Bantu having played more competitive matches this early in the season after having participated in the African Confederation Cup before exiting in the second round stage.

Chikurupati will also bank on the evergreen Menard Mupera, goal poacher Kuda Musharu, Xolisani Moyo and Captain Gilbert Banda who have been sparkling form in 2014.

On the other, hand Bantu will need their experienced player such as Zephania Ngodzo, Prod Zireni, Lawson Nkomo and speedy striker Obadiah Tarumbwa to get a result from today’s match.

Chikurupati head coach Philani Beefy Ncube said the match is going to be tough for both teams, who desperately need to get off the mark.

“It’s going to be difficult; it is like a brother playing against a brother. These are players who hang around together every day and have played together before,” said Ncube.

“The match on its own is a motivation to the players and they have everything to fight for. We have done our part as coaches and it’s left for the players to deliver.

“We are not putting any underdog tag to Bantu, they are a big team and they have been there before.

“All we are going to do is fight for the three points, nothing more. We desperately need to start collecting points.”

They are some interesting facts on the technical teams of both teams.
