Ali Sadiki's maintenance case resumes today

HARARE - FC Platinum and Warriors midfielder Ali Sadiki will today respond to the maintenance claim lodged by his ex-girlfriend.

Sadiki was on Friday dragged before the Harare Civil Court by his girlfriend Sharon Chiwanza, who is demanding more than $1 000 in child support.

Chiwanza claims the footballer neglected her and the child after she fell pregnant by him again.

She told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Sadiki refused to maintain his child but earns a lot of money.

She demanded $600 for her own upkeep saying she was eight months pregnant by him and wanted $517 for the upkeep of his five-year-old daughter and unborn child, totalling $1 117.

The Warriors midfielder did not dispute the claim. Instead, he pleaded with the court to postpone the matter to today, saying he wanted time to look for a defence attorney.

“I need time to look for a lawyer because I have just arrived from Shabanie and I received the summons a few hours ago,” Sadiki said.

Chiwanza had told the court that the footballer earns $800 per match from FC Platinum and another $800 from the national squad. She said Sadiki was in a position to pay that money since he realises a lot of money every month.

“He plays football for FC Platinum and earns $800 on each won match as bonus. He also plays for the national squad where he gets paid another $800 together with camping allowances,” said Chiwanza.

Magistrate Muvhami postponed the matter to today.
