ZC in massive retrenchment exercise

HARARE - Financially-troubled Zimbabwe Cricket is set to trim its personnel at the end of the month as a cost-cutting measure, the Daily News has learnt.

ZC managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa last week reportedly addressed Harare workers at a meeting that was also attended by Vimbai Mapukute, the Mashonaland Eagles chief executive, and a ZC human resources representative.

The local cricket governing body is said to have served the majority of its employees nationwide with one-month notices after which a new structure will be in place at the end of this month.

"The new structure will comprise of a franchise administration officer, coach, secretary, curator, grounds man, an area manager and 10 contracted players," said a source that attended the meeting.

Mukondiwa, however, said: "That's a process that is still going on," referring all questions to ZC spokesperson Lovemore Banda yesterday.
