TPC preps gather momentum

HARARE - At least 47 golfers have entered to take part in the Tour Players Championship set to start at Wingate Park Golf Club tomorrow.

The tournament, which is the first on the Zambezi Tour 2014 calendar, has a prize fund of $8 000 and will be played over 36 holes.

A strong field of local and foreign golfers is expected to provide an intriguing battle for honours when the tournament tees off tomorrow.

Amongst the foreign contingent is South Africa’s Sunshine Tour members Mark Williams, Irvin Mazibuko and Thabang Simon.

The Zambian duo of Madalitso Muthiya and Patrick Mwendapole has also confirmed their participation in the tournament.

Zimbabwe’s Ryan Cairns, Mick Hough and Greg Bentley, who have been active on the Sunshine Tour in recent months, will hope to use their experience to negotiate what should be a tough field.

Local professional golfer Tongo Charamba will be hoping to defend the title he won last year when he tees of tomorrow.

Ignatius Mketekete, Dale Howie and Tich Musemburi are some of the top local golfers to look out for at Wingate during the course of the two days.
