HARARE - Twenty private colleges are set to converge at the National Sports Stadium today for the Glen View-Mufakose District athletics meet.
Some of the colleges that will compete this afternoon include Royal College, Dethel, Trown, Reliance and Unique.
The other colleges set to grace the event include Glorified, Reliance, Westwood, Quality Academy and Ambassadors Adventist Academy.
Hebert Chikuku, the Glen View-Mufakose District sports coordinator, said they are excepting an exciting competition and every team is geared for the event.
"We have noticed that there is a lot of talent being left untapped in the country and the idea is to give an opportunity to those schools that have athletics as an extra-curriculum to fully participate so that they can discover and groom young talent," Chikuku told the Daily News yesterday.
"Private colleges must emulate what National Association of Secondary Schools Heads (Nash) is doing. We must set a national board which will organise various sports events," he added.
The athletes will take part in various track and field events.
