Cop seeks protection from ex-wife

HARARE - A Police officer is seeking protection from his ex-wife whom he alleges abuses him physically and verbally.

Farai Marowa told a Harare magistrate that his ex-wife, Rosemary Kaserere assaults and scolds him regularly.

Marowa yesterday dragged Kaserere before the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her.

He told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Kaserere threatens to destroy their farm produce and is very violent.

“I want her barred from coming to my workplace and my house,” he said. “I want her to stay in a the room which I gave her at our matrimonial house.

“I do not want her to come to my farm because she is stealing my produce and distributing them to her friends.”

Kaserere refuted her ex-husband’s allegations saying she has never abused him.

She said Marova does not fend for his family and is sharing their matrimonial property with his new wife.

“I have never abused him but the problem is that he does not maintain his children. I need more rooms at our house because I need to support the family,” Kaserere said.

“We acquired three stands when we were together but he registered them in his children’s names. I have never visited his workplace, he is lying.

“He is also denying me access to our matrimonial farm. I cannot work for his new wife.”

In a separate case, Kaserere had a similar application seeking a protection order against Marowa.

Her application had the same allegations as those of Marowa.

Magistrate Muvhami ordered the two to observe peace towards each other, and not to abuse each other in any way.
