ANZ hands out big prizes

HARARE - Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe (ANZ) yesterday drew the curtain on its hugely successful readers promotion with a colourful grand prize ceremony in the capital.

ANZ publishes the Daily News, the Daily News on Sunday and the Weekend Post.

The Read and Win competition which was launched in October last year had three draws, including last week’s finale which culminated in the grand prize ceremony at the company’s printing factory in Lochinvar yesterday.

Daily News senior assistant editor Guthrie Munyuki expressed gratitude to the readers and congratulated the winners.

“At ANZ there is one thing we value most — it’s loyalty. We would never trade our readers’ loyalty for anything else in this world. Congratulations, well done! Enjoy your prizes,” said Munyuki.

Muchineripi Rusike of Rusike School in Goromonzi walked away with the grand prize of the Fiat 500 vehicle sponsored by Zimoco.

“When the Daily News was introduced, I realised it was worth reading and from then I have been buying the paper,” Rusike said.

“This shows that Daily News has created a lifelong relationship with me.”

A beaming Rusike was accompanied by his wife and youngest daughter.

Since its launch in October 2013, the competition received thousands of entries  in what turned out to be a hugely successful readership adventure by both traditional and non-traditional readers of the ANZ titles.

General manager sales and marketing, Pilate Machadu revealed ANZ would hold another competition between November and February.

“This has been hugely successful and exceeded our expectations. We will have another competition, bigger and better than the inaugural one,” he said.

The competition was supported by Zimoco (main prize), Rainbow Tourism Group, G Tel, Pointe Restaurant, Adriennes Restaurant, Midea Home Appliances, Braidsfield Hair Salon, Sunpower Green Energy and Simba.

Grant Thornton were the auditors.
