Mashonaland defends swimming title

HARARE - Mashonaland successfully defended their Senior National Swimming Championship title at Les Brown pool yesterday.

Mashonaland finished with 3 252 points followed by Matabeleland with 1 481 points while Mashonaland Country District finished on third position with 339 points.

The champions dominated in both female and male categories, getting 1 689 points in the girls category whilst the boys amassed 1 563 points.

Some of the swimmers who shone at the event are Ratidzo Mutangadura, Liam Davis and the Lawson siblings – James and Natasha.

"It was a well organised event and the competition was very exciting," Mary Kloppers, the Zimbabwe Aquatic Union president, told the Daily News yesterday.
