Zinara to collect ZBC license fees

HARARE - Struggling Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has engaged Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) to collect listeners’ license fees on its behalf from motorists.

The latest Government Gazette carries General Notice 28 of 2014 which states that the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe has appointed Zinara to collect license fees.

“It is hereby notified in terms of section 46 of the Broadcasting Service Act (Chapter 12:06) that the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe hereby appoints the Zimbabwe National Road Administration to collect and transmit to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation listeners license fees referred to in section 38B (2),” reads part of the Gazette.

ZBC has been struggling to collect listeners’ license fees from motorists and the move to appoint Zinara apparently is to try and make the collection system efficient.

Zinara controls and administers all tollgates in the country.
