Nama winner to headline Simuka Comedy

HARARE - National Arts Merit Award (Nama) winner Simba Kakora, better known as Simba the Comic King, will have a perfect platform to show his class during the Simuka Comedy show at the Book Café tomorrow.

Simba The Comic King, who was crowned the best comedian by Nama last weekend, will share the stage with Comrade Fatso and the headliner — ‘Q.’

The show, to focus on romance and love in line with the recent Valentine’s Day, will be held under the theme “Will You Be My Punchline?”

Organisers of the show have promised a post-Valentine’s Day special full of unconventional opinions, crazy satire and ridiculous philosophies.

Kakora has promised to pull no punches.

“While everybody is shrieking ‘will you be my valentine’, we’ll be shrieking ‘will you be my punchline’, The Comic King says.

“The show is going to be very topical. We have got Bev getting born again, Cuthbert Dube and Gumbura of course. It is a special show we are dedicating to broke bothers who couldn’t buy their honies anything for Valentine’s Day.”

Q is also looking forward to tomorrow’s comedy show.

“It is a huge honour headlining a third time at Simuka. I am looking forward to it as I am going to be testing out some new material. I am looking forward to the laughs.”

Simuka Comedy is the brainchild of Simba The Comic King and Victor ‘Doc Vikela’ Mpofu. The three-year-old Simuka has risen to become one of Zimbabwe’s leading comedy brands.
