Junior tennis players in Morocco test

HARARE - Zimbabwe's junior tennis players left the country early this week for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Under-18 African Junior Championships in Morocco scheduled for next week.

Zimbabwe will be represented by Nicole Dzenga, Zaha Finnigan, Latifah Yasini and Keren Muswere in the girls' category while in the boys’ category Courtney Lock will be joined by Alwyn Mushonga, Luca Picci, Tadiwa Chinamo and Ngoni Makambwa.

"I think this time around the team we have is very good and we are confident they will deliver," Tennis Zimbabwe administrator Cliff Nhokwara told the Daily News.

"Our aim is to expose our juniors to a high level of competition. They have to feel the heat now. We are expecting tough competition in Morocco but we are ready for it.

"The competition is expected to provide the much needed international exposure for upcoming players who are taking steps into stardom.”

The tournament has become a springboard for gifted tennis players to launch their careers.
