Harare robber jailed 20 years

HARARE - A Harare man has been jailed for 20 years after being convicted on two counts of robbery.

Magistrate Themba Kuwanda sentenced Samuel Tererai Chiodze, 26, to 20 years imprisonment before suspending six years on condition of good behaviour.

Prosecutor Sidom Chinzete proved that on April 20 last year at 3 Singleton Avenue Sunridge in Harare, Chiodze used violence and threatened to kill Anne Grace Mabuto.

He also stole her VW motor vehicle, mobile phones and other valuables.

Chiodze forcibly took $220 from Mabuto before fleeing from the scene.

Chinzete further proved that on April 27, last year, Chiodze threatened to shoot Tongai Muchemwa and Debra Tsikai at their Marlborough home and stole $23 000, cell phones and other valuables.

Police recovered a Nokia C3 cellphone belonging to Chiodze, which he had dropped at Muchemwa’s residence and used it to trace the accused person.

Chiodze was also found in possession of Mabuto’s cell phone.
