Zim U-19s lose warm-up to UAE

HARARE - Zimbabwe's Under-19 cricket team failed to follow up on their impressive win over Australia after suffering a six-wicket defeat to hosts United Arab Emirates yesterday in their second warm-up match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

The African side, who beat Australia by three wickets on Tuesday, were disappointing against the Emiratis in Dubai yesterday, going down by six wickets with 121 balls to spare.

The Zimbabweans were bowled out for 100 inside 39.1 overs. Charles Kunje (36) was the only batsman to defy the UAE bowlers, with Luke Jongwe (18) the only other batter to reach double figures.

UAE then easily hunted down the winning target with opener Chirag Suri (22) and number three Shorye Chopra (37) leading the run chase.

Zimbabwe open their World Cup account against Canada at Abu Dhabi tomorrow in Group D.
