Zim skipper Taylor signs up for IPL

HARARE – Captain Brendan Taylor will be the only Zimbabwean in the 2014 edition of the India Premier League (IPL) after being auctioned to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a base price of India 30 LAK.

UNVEILED: Sunrise Hyderabad announced the capture of Brendan Taylor on their official Twitter feed on Wednesday morning.

The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman will be joined at the Hyderabad-based franchise by a host of fellow overseas players such as vice-captain Darren Sammy, the West Indies skipper.

The players auction, which took place Wednesday, was conducted in Indian Rupees rather than United States dollars for the first time in the history of the seven-year tournament.

“Wow! Thanks everyone! I'm feeling extremely honoured tobe apart of the @SunRisers family.Amazing feeling!,” tweeted Taylor.
