Harare City Council to meet over Mahachi suspension

HARARE - The Harare City Council is expected to hold a special full council meeting later today to deliberate on the fate of suspended Town Clerk, Tendai Mahachi.

Mahachi was suspended last week by Harare Mayor Benard Manyenyeni for three months pending investigations into allegations of failing to discharge his duties and furnishing council with a salary schedule for Town House bosses.

Local government minister, Ignatius Chombo, had reinstated Mahachi, but Manyenyeni argued that there were considerations to be made before the suspension is lifted.
