Carl, Selmor to hold unique concert

HARARE - Music star Selmor Mtukudzi and comedian Carl Joshua Ncube will hold a rare joint concert at the 7 Arts Theatre on March 28.

Apart from music and comedy, the concert will also see the two artistes release a collaborative song that they are currently working on.

“Selmor came up with the idea. She has a concert that she normally holds where she invites other groups to perform with her,” Ncube told the Daily News yesterday.

“Last time she shared the stage with Mokoomba. She has approached me to feature in her concert and we have decided to do something very different.”

Ncube conceded that they have borrowed the concept from some American television shows.

“Firstly, the show will be set up and run like a late night American  television show criss-crossing between comedy and music.

“It’s definitely a new concert idea in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Selmor told the Daily News that she is looking forward to the unique concert.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun that I promise. I have watched Carl’s shows for a long time and I have been very impressed.

“It’s a new year and I figured that new things will work too. We have a lot of ideas we are working around,” added the daughter of music legend Oliver Mtukudzi.

“At the moment, I am voice-coaching Carl because we are going to sing together. We are going to record a DVD of the whole show so we want to make it perfect.”
