Macheso to receive Coca-Cola prize

HARARE - Sungura star Alick Macheso will be presented with $1 200 and a Coca-Cola  hamper at the Coca-Cola industrial complex this afternoon.

The music star earned the prizes after his song Macharangwanda claimed top spot in the 2013 Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola Top 50.

Macheso’s hit song which also topped the 2013 National FM’s Top 50, beat second-placed Suluman Chimbetu’s Sean Timba by 175 votes.

Second-placed Chimbetu will walk away with $800 and a Coca-Cola hamper at the same prize-giving ceremony, while Jah Prayzah whose song Tsviriyo claimed third position will be presented with a $500 prize and a Coca-Cola hamper.

Shinsoman dates Masvingo 

DANCEHALL star Romeo ‘Shinsoman’ Antony descends on Masvingo for a show tonight at Liquids Night Club.
The high-ridding chanter will share the stage with fellow Harare-based musicians Taurai Mandebvu and Yoz.
Show promoter Revai Chapambwa has promised a great concert.

“We are hosting Shinsoman this Friday at Liquids Night Spot.

“You know that the young man is currently ridding high and is the king of dancehall in the country so we want our young music lovers in the city to have a chance to see him performing,” he said.

Selmor Mtukudzi opens 2014 account tonight

Selmor Mtukudzi will hold her first show of the year tonight at the Old Mutual Theatre at Alliance Francaise.

The concert will run under the theme “Intimacy with Selmor Mtukudzi in Concert”.

The Nguva Yangu singer who has four albums under her name, told the Daily News that tonight’s concert has been given such a theme because she will be telling a story of where she is coming from and where she is going with her musical career.

“This idea came about when I realised that a lot of fans are interested in knowing how a particular song came about so I thought it would be great if I brought them into the Selmor world” she said.

Sulu dates Marondera

Suluman Chimbetu will rock Jazz 105 tonight before performing in Marondera tomorrow where he will be the main star at the official opening of Club Xs.

Macheso celebrates in Budiriro

Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo Band will celebrate being the top band in the 2013 Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola Top 50 and the 2013 National FM’s Top 50 with a show at New Life in Budiriro in the capital city.

Young Igwe returns to Harare

Kwekwe-based Peter ‘Young Igwe’ Moyo is in the Zimbabwean capital city tonight for a show at City Sports Bar.
