'God told me to take Bev off stripping'

HARARE - Our reporter Vasco Chaya (VC) talks to Prophet Walter Magaya of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries.

Find below excerpts of the interview.

VC: Prophet you have taken a number of strippers including Beverly Sibanda off night clubs and you are empowering them with different lucrative projects, including opening shops for them. How did you get to think of this and what is the source of your money?

WM: Thank you. Some of these ladies used to earn a living through engaging in sexual activities so it is futile to tell them to quit their source of living without empowering them. God told me to replace what they were doing with other lucrative projects mainly of their choice.

A prophet is different from a pastor because the former’s actions are guided by God, therefore, we do a number of projects including paying school fees for more than 120 000 students in the country but I do not have a bank account.

Our money comes from partners of the PHD Ministries and these are people whom we share the same vision with.

VC: We understand you always visit Nigerian Prophet T.B Joshua, your spiritual father, for renewal of your powers. Can you elaborate on the issue of renewal of powers?

WM: Sure TB Joshua is my spiritual father and I frequently visit him for mentorship. My wife who I refer to as “mother” is set to visit TB Joshua’s wife in February.

When we are talking of power renewal we are speaking of revival.

TB Joshua’s church is bigger than mine and he has a wide range of experience in prophetic ministries as compared to me hence when I go there he will mentor and guide me on issues concerning a ministry.

In some churches people routinely attend revival services where their spirits will be uplifted and they will be encouraged to forge ahead.

VC: Why do you always preach prosperity gospel?

WM: Do you want to go to heaven now... if you want I can pray for you right now?

VC: No!

WM: Right. People do not want to die now and at the same time people are struggling to cope with social problems such as poverty.

Therefore, it is our duty as prophets to address what is needed now and that is success. Our principles are simple.

We command the blessings of heaven to come down on earth. Once we deal with problems such as poverty which can affect people to worship God, then we are okay.

Then after that, everyone will go to heaven.

VC: May you explain why prophets’ wives end up being prophetesses?

WM: It is because of impartation. This process is evidenced in the Bible when Elisha inherited the spirit of Elijah. You should also understand that anointing can be borrowed. It is a spiritual process.

VC: PHD Ministries is one of the fastest growing churches in the country.

Can you tell us how big your organisation is now and what is the secret behind this rapid growth?

WM: I do not know the exact numbers but we are over 100 000 as we have cell groups all-over the world.

The secret for growth is simple. People want to see results, not just results but tangible results and that is the reason why even men flock to PHD.

What is happening at PHD never happened before in southern Africa, therefore, people want this change. Miracles and wonders are happening.

VC: It is said your church is growing at the expense of other churches. Some churches are reportedly empty because of PHD?

WM: Ahh, some of the churches complained about that and their leaders urged them to emulate and follow suit. They should do like what we are doing such that people will remain in their churches.

VC: Do you have plans of opening your television station, you are currently appearing on Bos TV,  which you don’t own?

WM: Sure. We are set to launch our new TV station called Yadah next month but I will still be loyal to Bos TV since they are our partners.

VC: We understand you gave away several houses in the country as part of your social responsibility. How many houses do you have and what type of cars do you drive?

WM: To be honest, I do not have a house myself and you can verify that with the Deeds Office. I am renting one in Marlborough part of which I turned into church offices.

I am driving a Toyota Murano. I feel I still need to seed more. I know one day I will have one nice house but this is not the time.

VC: How much do you think you are worth?

WM: I try by all means to be worth as little as I can. My principle is simple: More for them and less for me.

I know the chance will come for me to enjoy. This time I need to concentrate on working for the people.

I can’t even afford to buy a tie and this is the reason why you see me never putting on one.

VC: I understand being a prophet is a challenging and busy task. Do you have time for your family?

WM: I am always busy with church business. You know I always sleep very late and wake up very early.

VC: People would like to know who is Magaya?

WM: Walter Magaya is a man who grew up in Chitungwiza while attending the Catholic Church.

I am married to Prophetess Tendai Katsiga Magaya who was a banker by profession and we have two children.

These so called strippers only need the WORD of GOD which was said in HEB 4:12 is sharper than any two edged sword ...........If they are blasted with the real WORD they will they will realise JESUS.Like that Samaritan harlot and the other one who washed JESUS' feet with tears. They need not projects and such things and GOD can't do that because he never did it.Magaya does not know church history let him ask South Africans what type of revival did happen in 1950s not prosperity gospel but that which brought salvation of many SOULS.

Success Gospel... where are you getting it from people? We will not go to heaven on a flowery bed of roses. The Deaths of the Apostles and other saints... The next time you think your Christian walk is difficult, just come back and read this... Peter, was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross, according to Church tradition, because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die the same way that Jesus Christ had died. Andrew, according to legend he travelled to Greece and preached in the province of Achaia. There he became a martyr and was crucified on an X-shaped cross. James the Greater, a son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the Church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman soldier who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian. John was boiled in a huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos where he wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation. The Apostle John was later freed and returned to serve as a bishop in modern Turkey. He died an old man, the only Apostle to die peacefully. Philip, according to tradition he went to preach in Phrygia and died at Hierapolis, nailed to a cross, by the hands of a strange Phrygian cult .

Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed about our Lord in present day Turkey. He was whipped to death for his preaching in Armenia. Thomas was speared and died on one of his missionary trips to establish the Church in India. Matthew suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, killed by a sword wound. James Alpheus the Just, the leader of the Church in Jerusalem and brother of Jesus, was thrown down more than a hundred feet from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation. Jude, another brother of Jesus, was killed with arrows after refusing to deny his faith in Christ. Simon, called the Cananean or the Zealot; according to legend, preached in various places in the Middle East and suffered martyrdom by being sawed in two. In art, he is depicted with a saw, the instrument of his death, or a book, symbolic of his zeal for the Law. Paul was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment which allowed him to write his many epistles to the Churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. =========== Matthias, the Apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and beheaded. Barnabas, one of the group of seventy disciples, was stoned to death at Salonica. Mark died in Alexandria, Egypt, dragged by horses through the streets until he was dead. Luke, a physician, was not an apostle; was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous preaching to the lost.

This guy is a mad man and a fraud. How can he say that a prophet is guided by God and a pastor is not? If he as a prophet is guided by God at least I know who his god is... T.B Joshua for that is he who he get his powers from.

WekuZimbabwe - 30 January 2014

never go to church to see wonders and miracles ,why ?becoz the bible is very clear that many will come and do all these to cheat and fleece people. On the day of judgement they will be there claiming-"didn't we do wonders and miracles in your name?" and Jesus will reply -"l never knew you,go away from me-endai ikoko kwamaitira mabasa enyu."Be warned people!

Chaitichouya Chikopokopo - 30 January 2014

Mr Magaya men of God quote the scriptures. Poverty can not cause people not to worship God. Mr Magaya the spirit of God which was on Elijah and Elisha never went to their wives. Show me one verse in the bible where a prophet was called and the spirit ended up on their wives too.

You still have people that believe in all this crap!!!!!!!! No wonder the pastors and prophets get to live big while the flock forks out I guess. Their heaven is here on earth while the flock's heaven is somewhere in the universe!!!! kkkkk wake up and smell the coffee you stupid buggers!!!!

peter - 31 January 2014

I quoted this so called 'prophet',when he said; 'I am always busy with church business' for sure he is right, guys if ever you watched an African Movie titled'Church Business' you will know them by their deeds, but ironically that movie has just vanished, it just can't be found, these crooks are being empowered by powers from Satan who uses his agents from the Oceans, that's why these people always flock to west Africa for their so called spiritual fathers.West Africa is renowned for such activities such as sorcery and Satanism, do not be fooled, those who are truly born again cannot be deceived by such simple satanic machinations

Last Dys - 31 January 2014

Mr Magaya- please tell people the truth and not hearesy. i agreee with the first comment. just preach Word with power and not giving her things before she realises that she is now a true born again Christian. if the shop is empty, she will go back to her evil ways. Paul was prosecuting people of God And a bright light struck him and was converted and started preaching the Gospel and stopped killings. Your Bev was suppoed to receive the Power of God and start confession and God was going to give her what she is supposed to do. may be to preach the Word.
