PE complete Canada b/ball tour

HARARE - Prince Edward School’s basketball team completed their Canada tour with a 62-48 defeat to hosts Bodwell High School in the coastal city of Vancouver on Sunday.

The Harare school lost all three games on tour, having earlier suffered defeats to Ashcroft Boys High and Carver Christian.

The first two matches were however closely fought.

“More important than the score were the friendships that were made over the weekend. Not only amongst Bodwell and Prince Edward, but Prince Edward, Ashcroft, and Bodwell,” Bodwell Bruins Basketball posted on Facebook yesterday.

Doug Graham, a teacher at Bodwell High School, said although the Zimbabwean schoolboys failed to win a single match, they did themselves and their country proud.

“The Zimbabwean side played hard but fair,” he said.

“After the game, the hugging and shaking of hands showed what sports can do for people. Sport is a great link to making the world a better place. Thank you Bodwell Bruins and Prince Edward for showing that today.”

Prince Edward and Bodwell enjoy a cordial relationship. PE pupil Patrick Nhamburo is currently on a basketball scholarship at Bodwell.

I am Doug Graham from Bodwell. I said Prince Edward won their first two games over Ashcroft and Carver Christian to make it to the finals. Prince Edward lost their only game to Bodwell 62-48 in the final game.
