'Hubby blows salary on hookers'

HARARE - A disgruntled woman yesterday told the court that her husband squanders all his salary with ladies of the night and comes home penniless.

Alice Mukono hauled her husband Kenneth Maengahama before the Harare Civil Court claiming an increase in child support.

Mukono was seeking an upward variation of $600 from $120 which she was receiving for her three children.

She told magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti that Maengahama had been awarded a salary increment and spends it all on hookers.

“He is obsessed with women and spends all his money with prostitutes. He also spends most of his time away from home and only returns when he is broke,” Mukono said.

“Kenneth is promiscuous and he is seen around the city with different prostitutes living lavishly,” she said. “He is reportedly co-habiting with an old woman who is now menopausal.

“He does not want with his money and only paid maintenance for four months since 2010. Right now he is on a warrant of arrest over maintenance arrears at Mbare Magistrates’ Courts.”

Maengahama refuted his wife’s allegations saying she was jealous that he was now living with another woman.

“I need to take care of my relatives and can only increase it (the money) to $150. I got married recently and my wife is pregnant. She is just jealous of my other wife but I love both of them, they are all my wives,” Maengahama said.

Muchuchuti, however, increased the child support to $350.
