Musona excited for Champions League

JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs’ Zimbabwean striker Knowledge Musona is looking forward to making his CAF Champions League debut when Amakhosi take on Namibian outfit Black Africa FC next month.

The clubs will contest a preliminary round first leg tie from 7-9 February, with the return duel scheduled for the following week.

“It will be my first time playing in the Champions League, and I am looking forward to the challenge of competing outside of the PSL again,” Musona tells

“It is an opportunity for me to express myself outside of my usual environment, and to challenge myself against different opposition,” adds the 23-year-old, who is on loan at Chiefs from German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

With Lehlohonolo Majoro deemed surplus to requirements at the club according to coach Stuart Baxter, and CAF player registration closing today, the Glamour Boys now only have Musona, Bernard Parker and Kingston Nkhatha to look to in the strikers’ department.

There is also a chance the Kaizer Chiefs will meet Zimbabwean champion Dynamos in Africa’s premier club football showpiece provided Amakhosi win their preliminary round and the first round proper. –
