Buffaloes complete Mombeshora signing

HARARE - Buffaloes have finalised the signing of Tafadzwa Mombeshora from Shabanie Mine on a one-year deal.

The veteran midfielder becomes the second Shabanie player this off-season to follow coach Luke Masomere to the Mutare club.

Buffaloes this week signed Frank Bushiri on a one-year contract and have been linked with more Shabanie players, including Mombeshora, who completed his move this week.

Buffaloes spokesperson Tendai Chitowa confirmed the signing of Mombeshora, saying the army outfit is also looking at bolstering the squad with further signings before the 2014 season gets underway in March. They are also on the verge of securing the Dynamos duo of Farai Mupasiri and Tichaona Mabvura on loan.

Mombeshora, who won the Banc Sup8r Player of the Year last season, was on the radar of newly-promoted ZPC Kariba, Chicken Inn and returnees Chapungu, but the presence of Masomere at Buffaloes influenced his decision to move to Manicaland.  Buffaloes last season survived relegation on the last day after forcing a 2-2 draw against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium.

Stephen Sibanda, who was the country’s second top goal scorer last season with 13 goals, is the only high-profile player to have left Buffaloes after signing for FC Platinum. Buffaloes are also understood to be interested in luring back winger Phineas Bamusi from Harare City.
