Charma girl set for Zim

HARARE - Botswana diva and Culture Spears member, Magdeline Lesolebe aka Charma Gal will soon embark on concerts in Zimbabwe — in a bid to revive her waning popularity on the local showbiz market.

Lesolebe has sent her manager Lesego Lefatshe to negotiate a performance deal with local promoters.

Lefatshe told the Daily News: “I have come here for a mission, this year Charma Gal is casting her net wider and Zimbabwe is our first target. We want to make some inroads in the Zimbabwean market, and as of now, everything has gone well according to our wishes.

“We have a large fan base here so we are expecting to return for some concerts in the country around the Easter holiday. That way we will be able to maintain and expand our fan base.”

Lefatshe said the group is coming to develop and revive some relationships with local groups.

“Charma Gal is the best-selling artiste in Botswana, so we wish to collaborate with popular musicians from this side such as Macheso and others,” she said.

The Chika singer is coming to promote her solo career, but her manager said she will remain loyal to the mother group — Culture Spears.

Charma Gal has five albums under her name which are Eke Ntolo Volume 1 to 5 and her manager says the group has no problem working with Zimbabwe.

“We have three band members from Zimbabwe who include Kuseri Kumakile and Wisdom Pedzisai, so to us Zimbabwe is our second home,” he said, adding the group have included a Shona song entitled Mari Muroyi on their latest album Eke Ntolo Volume 5.

Lesolebe lastly performed in the country a couple of years ago under the group Culture Spears of Kulenyane fame.

Late last year the country hosted another Botswana artiste in the form of Slizer, real name Naledi Kaisara who came for the Tongai Moyo commemorations held around the country.
