St John's to tour SA

HARARE - St John’s College rugby team are hoping to get their season off to flying start when they take part in the St John’s Rugby Festival in South Africa over the Easter holiday.

The Harare giants had a pretty average 2013 season, finishing fourth in the domestic schools rugby league with 33 points, some 27 points off eventual winners Peterhouse College.

But they will be hoping the tour across the Limpopo will equip them in their quest to lift the Super 8 title on the domestic scene.

The St John’s Easter festival brings together various rugby playing schools from in and outside South Africa.

The tournament hosts South African national powerhouses such as Paarl Boys High, Paul Roos and Waterkloof as well as other formidable teams such as Pretoria Boys High, Jeppe and Nelspruit.

The Rams will be joined by Australia’s Scots College, an old independent school which is expected to add diversity to the tournament.

The Rams travel to South Africa under the stewardship of former Scotland international Scott Gray, who joined the Harare-based school from Peterhouse.
