Mine worker jailed for theft

BULAWAYO - A Bermas Mine security guard has been slapped with a 10-month jail term for stealing almost $1 000 from the company.

Vusumuzi Ndlovu, 26, was convicted on his own plea when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove.

Two months of the sentence were conditionally suspended for three years.

The State alleges that Ndlovu was given different amounts of money on several occasions at Bermas Mine by the mine clerk to store in a cash chest for safe keeping.

The court heard that Ndlovu stashed a certain amount of cash for his personal use before he could store the remaining money in the safe.

It was later discovered that an amount of to $952 was missing.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.

Bermas Mine was represented by its general manager Mandla Dube.
