Zoey to release album

HARARE - Raunchy and controversial pole dancer, Zoey Sifelani will take her artistic career a notch up with the launch of a new music album.

The album, which is still to be titled, features talented chanter Gift Katulika aka Shiga and is set for launch in Harare this year on Valentine’s Day.

After introducing pole dance lessons last year which target housewives seeking to boost their fitness levels and improve bedroom skills, Zoey seems to be even dreaming bigger.

Although everything has been under wraps, Zoey, 26 confirmed to the Daily News yesterday that she is working on her debut music album.

The Red Angels founder told the Daily News that her album will cut across all music genres and has eight tracks, which she is hopeful will make waves in the music industry.

Zoey says she has enough experience as she has featured in other artistes’ recordings. “I have been in the music industry since 2012 when l featured with other artistes but l played a low profile,” said Sifelani.

For Zoey, her alluring effect is just hard to ignore even when she is just a greenhorn in the music circuit.

She said while many people may view her releasing of a music album as if she as emulating another popular pole dancer, Beverly “Bev” Sibanda who released her debut album last year, she mooted the idea to record music a long time ago.

Bev released an album titled Tapinda towards the end of 2013 which featured South African star, Freddy Gwala.

Hot chanter, Shiga Shiga will, after recording with Bev, feature on Zoey’s album and this will even further fuel rivalry and speculation between the two dancers.

Last year, a brutal fight for space with Bev surfaced, as each claimed to be "queen" in the local pole dance circuit, though, Bev later admitted grudgingly that Zoey was a better dancer than her.

Over the years, Zoey and her dancing girls have been using backup music for their choreography, most of which is sungura.

In releasing her own music, the diva aims to kill two birds with one stone.

She will have the fun to dance to her own music.

Shiga Shiga confirmed the recording project with Zoey, saying he would be helping the diva with vocal arrangements and production.

“Yes, I will work with Zoey just like I did with Bev. I am just helping them record but these are their projects. My own project is on the cards,” said Shiga Shiga.

The chanter has been performing all over the country, first with the late Tongai Moyo, then Peter ‘Igwe’ and flamboyant businessman Energy Mutodi among others.
