'Ochestra Mberikwazvo band of the moment'

HARARE - Flamboyant musician Energy Mutodi has congratulated sungura kingpin Alick Macheso for winning the 2013 edition of the National FM Top 50 with his hit song Macharangwanda.

Mutodi and Macheso have previously traded barbs and bitter words.

But the businessman-cum-singer has described Macheso’s backing band Orchestra Mberikwazvo as the brand of the moment.

“Mutodi Express wishes to congratulate Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo for winning the 2013 edition of the National FM Top 50 with the golden song Macharangwanda,” Mutodi Said.

“We celebrate with you for this momentous achievement. Keep the fire burning in 2014. You are the band of the moment.”

Macharangwanda is on Macheso’s latest album Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure). It was released in 2012.

The album received a lot of criticism from music critics, with  some describing it as Macheso’s worst project since he released his debut album Magariro in 1998.

Mutodi’s song Kuita Kuri Kwenyu was on ninth position. Extra Kwazvose’s hit Gurajena off their single album Ndizvo Zviripo was on third position while Mathias Mhere’s Number Busy landed the fourth position.
Mhere told the Daily News his instant success in the music industry shows that God was at work.

“Mbiri yose tinoisiira kuna Mwari nekutigonesa kwakadai (I give all glory to God for making us this good),” he said.

Ninja president Winky D’s hit Mafirakureva was on fifth position while Peter Moyo’s Konzi was on number six, Gift Amuli’s Bhora Mberi on seventh position and dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu was on eighth position with Sean Timba.

Other artistes who managed to squeeze into the National FM Top 50 include Pachihera’s Runonzi Rudo at number 19, Guspy Warrior’s Seunononga at number 22, Tryson Chimbetu’s Ndondo at number 24, Potifa Mopo’s Nesango at number 25 and Beverly Sibanda’s Tshaingoma (Tapinda) at number 27.

Aaaaah thats amazing coz Macharangwanda was also number 1 on Radio Zim. Radio Zim's Top 5 was as follows; 5 Cynthia-Macheso, 4 Patapata-Tuku, 3 Tsviriyo- Jah Praiser, 2 Batai Munhu- Sulu and Number was Extrabasso with Macharangwanda. Wonder how the likes of Problem Masau, Photovet and haters at Herald feel. They have been on a serious onslaught to destroy Cheso. Keep it up Cheso.
