Zim regroup for Chan

HARARE - Zimbabwe's national football team went back into camp last night to step up preparations for the African Nations Championship (Chan) finals set for South Africa in January.

Ian Gorowa’s men had briefly broken camp for Christmas and yesterday resumed training with an afternoon gym workout.

The Warriors, who will be based in Cape Town, are expected to fly out on January 6 and will start their campaign with a date against Morocco on January 12. Zimbabwe are in Group B, which also includes Burkina Faso and Uganda.

Zimbabwe will be making their third consecutive appearance at the tournament, which is specifically for footballers plying their trade in domestic leagues across the continent.

The Warriors have failed to advance past the group stages in the previous two additions in 2009 and 2011, and will be hoping to make a cut at next month’s tournament.
