BancABC award an honour: Mombeshora

HARARE - Shabanie Mine captain Tafadzwa Mombeshora says he feels honoured to be receiving the BancABC Sup8r Player of the Tournament award after missing out on the Soccer Stars of the Year cast.

The midfielder played a blinder in Shabanie’s campaign in the ended season that saw the asbestos miners escape relegation in the later stages of the season. This was despite the team experiencing payment disputes with the management for a lengthy period.

Mombeshora also had the privilege to slot the winning penalty in his team’s 5-3 shootout win over township rivals FC Platinum in the BancABC Sup8r final staged at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.

“It’s really an honour to get to receive such an award and will always cherish this moment and all the glory goes to the Almighty,”Mombeshora told the Daily News yesterday.

“It was kind-like a bitter pill to swallow after missing out on the Soccer Stars calendar because its every player’s ambition to be amongst the elite 11 but we just have to accept that we can’t all be recognised in the same way. It felt good though to win this BancABC award.”
