Comedy fiesta tonight

HARARE - Zimbabwe’s top comedian Carl Joshua Ncube will team up with the equally-talented Ntando Van Moyo and Q the Boss in a highly anticipated edition of Simuka Comedy set for the Book Café tonight.

The show is part of a three-show fiesta organised by Simuka Comedy to celebrate a highly successful year for Zimbabwean comedy. The first show, featuring comedians Doc Vikela, Shingi, Cde Fatso and Tati, took place at the Book Café on December 10 and was followed by yesterday’s show at the Zimbabwe German Society.

The three comedy shows, made possible through sponsorship from Savanna Dry, hope to build a foundation for Simuka to be turned into an annual comedy fiesta featuring foreign jesters.

Simuka Comedy was founded three years ago at the old Book Café premises at Fife Avenue Shopping Centre.

The initial line-up consisted of Michael Kudakwashe, Carl Joshua Ncube, Doc Vikela, Simba The Comic King and Toropito.

Simuka has risen to be a premium comedy brand in Zimbabwe.

Over time it has not only given rise to such great up-and-coming comedians such as Q the Boss and Bulawayo-based Clive Chigubhu but it has also been a training platform for aspiring comedians.
