Chideme re-elected ZUJ president

HARARE - Michael Chideme was yesterday re-elected Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) president after he narrowly beat Perfect Hlongwane of ZiFM by one vote.

Chideme garnered 20 votes against Hlongwane’s 19.

The ZUJ congress was held at Mutirikwi Lake Shore Lodges.

Foster Dongozi was retained as the secretary-general after he stood uncontested.

Mukhulili Sibanda and Owen Mavata were elected 1st and 2nd vice president respectively.

Evince Mugumbate also retained her post of treasurer while Daily News reporters, Godfrey Mtimba was elected committee member of the national executive council while Bridget Mananavire landed the Gender Mainstreaming committee member. 

Other committee members are Regis Chingawo, Oliver Karuru, Hlongwane, Sinikiwe Marodza and Nyasha Maravanyika.
