Passenger stabbed over R5

BULAWAYO - A 22-year-old man has been hauled before the courts here facing allegations of stabbing a passenger on the  back.

Hebert Tshuma of Emganwini suburb is employed as a conductor by Luck  Snare Tours.

He is facing attempted murder charges  after he stabbed Arthur Banda, of the same suburb for refusing to pay bus fare.

It is the State’s case that on November 29 at around 5:45pm the complainant boarded a commuter omnibus where Tshuma was a conductor.

The court heard when the accused asked the passengers to pay the bus fare Banda refused to comply.

Tshuma then took a knife from his pocket and stabbed Banda on his back.

The court further heard members of the public stopped Tshuma who was furious and they dragged him to Donnington Police Station where he was arrested.

Police charged Tshuma with attempted murder as defined by Section 189 of Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 9:23.

Magistrate Gladmore Mushove remanded the accused in custody to December 13.
