Winky D relishes Ringo, Tuku match-up

HARARE - Ninja president Wallace “Winky D” Chirumiko views tomorrow’s Thank You Zimbabwe gig in which he will share the stage with South African star Ringo Madhlingozi, superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and Jah Prayzah as another platform to showcase his pedigree.

Jonathan Banda, who manages the Mafirakureva singer, told the Daily News that match-ups with big foreign stars always inspire the award-winning dancehall star to deliver the very best.

“We are ready to shine on Friday at the Andy Millar Hall; all the tools needed for the job are already in place,” said Banda.

“We have already selected our playlist which suits the Friday event. We have different playlists for different gigs.”

As usual the empress Tendazvaitwa “Lipsy” Chitimbe will do a duet with the self-styled big man of Zimbabwean dancehall.

“We are very supportive of the empowerment of female artistes that is why Lipsy is part of our act. She worked hard to be part of the Ninja President’s performances,” added Banda.

Meanwhile, Josh Hozheri, one of the organisers of the gig, told the Daily News that Madhlingozi would be flying into Harare tonight in readiness for tomorrow’s high-profile gig.

“Ringo will jet in today evening aboard South African Airways along with his full band,” he said.

The Into Yami singer is no newcomer to Zimbabwe which he regards as his “second home.”

Madhlingozi has performed in several concerts in Zimbabwe where he has mostly shared the stage with Bvuma hit-maker Mtukudzi.

Last year, the top South African musician was part of the cast who graced Mtukudzi’s birthday bash dubbed Tuku@60 held at the Glamis arena in Harare.
