Chipinge brothers found with $58 000 mbanje

BULAWAYO - Two Chipinge brothers have been arrested in Bulawayo after they were found with four suitcases with dagga worth $58 000.

Samson Muyambo, 36, and Richard Muyambo, 26, were arraigned before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove.

They were not asked to plead.

They were remanded in custody and were ordered to report back to court on December 5.

The State alleges that on November 10 at around 1pm, a detective from CID drugs and narcotics squad was aboard a Zupco bus which was on its way from Birchenough Bridge to Bulawayo when he observed the two accused persons alighting from a bus while carrying four suitcases.

The two reportedly loaded the bags into a vehicle which was parked by the Warringharm bus stop near Chipangali area, less than 20 kilometres from Bulawayo.

The detective became suspicious of their movements before he went on to alert police officers from Hillside Police Station who were manning the roadblock at Marcbinding which is about a kilometre from Warringharm bus stop, the court was told.

The police immediately made a follow up and later managed to locate the vehicle, a metallic blue Nissan Sunny.

Upon searching the vehicle, four suitcases stashed with dagga were recovered from the boot.

This led to the arrest of the two.

The confiscated dagga was assessed in the presence of the accused and it was discovered that it weighed 58kgs with a street value of $58 000.
