Barbourfields to host Mbada Cup final

HARARE - Bulawayo will host this year’s Mbada Diamonds Cup final pitting Highlanders and How Mine.

The final of Zimbabwe’s richest football competition will be staged at Barbourfields Stadium on November 30 in the country’s second largest city.

Castle Premiership log leaders and title hopefuls Highlanders and new comers How Mine sailed through to the final after both Matabeleland teams won their semi-final matches on penalty shootout last weekend.

Bosso were the first team to progress to the final after seeing off Harare City 5-3 in Zvishavane on Saturday before How Mine beat CAPS United 4-2 at the National Sports Stadium 24 hours later.

“Following a meeting held last Tuesday, it was agreed to have the 2013 Mbada Diamonds Cup final played at Barbourfields in Bulawayo,” tournament chairman Tafadzwa Chiremba said in a statement yesterday.

Chiremba said that the popular one dollar entry fee for the rest of the ground that was adopted at the beginning of the tournament will remain in place for the final.
