Chihoro warns Dynamos against complacency

HARARE – Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro, has warned the Glamour Boys against complacency when they host Shabanie Mine in a Castle Premiership match at Rufaro Stadium Wednesday.

The defending champions top the log standing with 49 points and boast of a superior goal difference ahead of second-placed Harare City, who also have the same number of points.

Chihoro challenged the DeMbare players to remain focused in the three remaining fixtures.

“I’m happy with how the players have been performing but they need to remain focused because there’s no room for complacency,” Chihoro told the Daily News.

The two teams drew 1-1 in their first meeting in the league match at Maglas stadium back in April, during a time which the Harare giants were struggling to impose themselves as title favourites at the beginning of the season.

Tables have since changed and the reigning champions are on course for a third straight title if they win all their remaining matches.

“There are no more small teams in the Premiership. We have to treat all teams with equal respect. Shabanie is a good team hence there’s no point in us underrating them,” he said.

“We want to win the league title. But for us to achieve that feat, we really need to stay focused.  The good thing is players know what is needed and we expect a good result.

“This is the most dangerous time in the league as we face sides who are fighting for the league championship as well as those who are fighting relegation, this will be a very difficult game for us but we are ready for the fight.

“The title race is very exciting and I think it will be decided on the last minute of the season so we need maximum points from all our matches and I am confident we can do it.”

Clive Kawinga will has been ruled out of today’s match because of injury while captain Tawanda Muparati needs to pass a late fitness test to be available for the match.

Dynamos managed to stay top of the table last week despite dropping two points at Triangle as title rivals Highlanders and Harare City were also held in their respective matches.

The Chinda Boys need to win the match to ease their relegation worries.
