ZPC Kariba promoted into Premiership

HARARE - ZPC Kariba have secured promotion into the Castle Premiership next season after defeating Twalumba FC 3-1 at Chaminuka Stadium on Saturday to win the Zifa Northern Region Division One championship.

Saturday’s win saw Jostein Mathuthu’s charges reach an unassailable 72 points from 32 matches and second placed Twalumba, who are now eight points behind, cannot catch play catch up in the remaining two matches.

The Kariba-based side have only lost four times this season, one of those defeats was conceded in a local derby against Lake Harvest.

“It was not easy during the course of the season but we kept encouraging each other and as coaches we always tell our players not lose heart when the results were not coming our way,” ZPC Kariba assistant coach Oliver Mataba said this week.

ZPC’s main asset was their offensive frontline fronted by marksmen Tineyi Chatora and Raphael Manuvire, who scored over the half of the team’s entire tally.
