We're still in it, says Mawiwi

HARARE - Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi says the Castle Premiership title race is still wide open despite defending champions Dynamos’ win over rivals Highlanders on Sunday, a result which saw the Glamour Boys shoot back to the top of the table.

“There is still a lot to play for. All the top four teams are still in with a chance and we are one of them,” Mawiwi told the Daily News.

“We have the desire to be champions, you can see that. We just try and keep going. We have a chance but it is very open.

“There is a long way to go so we will definitely keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard in training.

"Come the end of the season, if we can keep our consistency going and playing the way we have, we will be okay. At the moment it looks pretty wide open at the top, but you never know how it's going to turn out.”

The Sunshine Boys are still to play serious title contenders Highlanders and fourth-placed CAPS United, which will prove to be difficult fixtures in their championship quest.

But Mawiwi is unfazed about the prospect of facing these two teams.

“Those matches are just like any other games we have played. They will be equally important but we don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure,” Mawiwi said.

“We need to take each game as it comes. There won’t be any easy matches from now. We will lose focus if we start thinking of those matches.”
