DJ Zinhle disappoints Byo fans

BULAWAYO - Popular South African house queen Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” appears to have conspired with award-winning Nigerian music star D’Banj to short-change local music fans on Saturday night.

While D’Banj was frustrating Harare fans with an insipid performance at the Glamis Arena, DJ Zinhle was delivering more of the same at an all-white party at Horizon Bar in Bulawayo.

The South African DJ was scheduled to start performing at 2pm but only got behind the decks an hour after midnight as fans resisted paying the $15 admission fee which they thought was exorbitant.

Many fans left the venue disgruntled put off by the house queen’s late arrival.

When the My Name Is singer finally got down to business, the patient fans who had no qualms about forking out the $15 admission fee got into real party mood.

The protege of award-winning South African DJ Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa did most of her popular tunes and in the process rescued the event from degenerating into a total damp squib.

The music fans who were enthusiastically singing along were disappointed when the celebrated South African performer left the turntables after less than one-and-half-hours.

Bulawayo fans are obviously expecting DJ Zinhle, who is billed to return to the City of Kings during the festive season, to deliver a more polished performance and a longer tenure behind the turn-tables.
