Solar farm, a good solution

EDITOR — I applaud the move taken by the Asian energy giant to create a solar farm so as to alleviate the current power shortages in the country.

The country has been experiencing serious power outages which has negatively impacted on the industry.

We have plenty conducive weather patterns in most regions of the country hence it will save the country millions in hard cash.

It will also improve the capacity of Bulawayo-based industries to operate optimally as Zimbabwe’s industrial hub, thereby creating employment, disposable incomes and arresting other social ills.

These are the king of solutions which we want when faced with such challenges.

It is high time we have an effective energy policy put in place.

Most of the solar projects require funding, so the setting up of an energy fund is vital so as to curb the crisis that we have .

Moreover, solar is a renewable energy.
