Prayersoul launches single

HARARE - Emerging neo-soul artiste Prayersoul on Friday launched his eagerly-anticipated single Missing You at a glittering party in the capital.

Launched at Olive Restaurant in Alexandra Park, the Musiqlef-managed songwriter, who performed alongside his friend Fungai Nengare, entertained a lively crowd in an event set to go down as one of the best RnB and soul event this year.

The special night kicked off with some smooth jazz and RnB instrumental renditions and after hip-hop artiste Mellow Crème had welcomed the crowd and special guests from the media and the Zimbabwe Music Rights, the party suddenly went a gear up.

Former ZimPraise member Mabel Madondo, with her angelic voice, then belted out her hit song Ndafunga Iwe, a song she composed for her late sister, gospel sensation Jackie Madondo.

The crowd seemed to go into a hypnotic trance as she crooned. Then it was the turn of Tatenda to deliver a helping of her equally delightful compositions.

Both Mabel and Tatenda do backing vocals for Prayersoul.

Fungai Nengare, who has just begun a solo career, then dazzled and thrilled spectators with some of his unreleased material.

This left the crowd wondering where he has been. With a decade in the entertainment industry under his belt, the former Jazz Invitation member expectably reflected the seasoned star he is.

Special guest Alexio Kawara then appeared, with his fans singing along and dancing with him on stage. Then the special moment came.

Missing You, a song written for lovers, left the lively crowd spellbound and asking for more.

It was like having our very own Joe Thomas and John Legend with an authentic Zimbabwean feel and original flair.
