Shabanie players set to receive dues

HARARE - Shabanie Mine players are set to be rewarded for lifting the BancABC Supr8 Cup last month any time soon, a club official said.

On Tuesday, players told the Daily News on condition of anonymity that they were yet to receive their share of the prize money almost a month after winning the tournament at Mandava.

The Chinda Boys beat Zvishavane rivals FC Platinum 3-2 on penalty shoot-out after the match had ended 0-0 after regulation time to pocket a cool $120 000 in prize money.

Shabanie Mine secretary general Pithias Shoko said the delay in the disbursement of funds was due to delays from the Premier Soccer League.

“The delay was beyond our control because we had not received the prize money from PSL until late Tuesday, we also had some outstanding fines with the PSL and I’m sure all those things had to be considered before the money was deposited into our account,” Shoko said.

“There’s an agreement that was made and that is what the players will get. Unfortunately, I can’t disclose the figures because those are contractual issues. What I can confirm though is that the players know what they are going to get and they will be very happy with it.”
