Ncube under fire over Misihairabwi

HARARE - Welshman Ncube, leader of the smaller MDC faction, is facing a rebellion over secretary-general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, with party members calling for her removal.

Sources in the party told the Daily News yesterday that senior party members met on Saturday in Harare and resolved that a national council meeting should be called to dethrone Misihairabwi-Mushonga.

“Senior party members from the provinces met at a hotel in Harare on Saturday to discuss what happened in the elections. We could not sit down and wait for Ncube as he has been quiet. We unanimously agreed that the party needs to refocus and reorganise itself if ever it’s going to survive,” sources said.

“We drafted a position paper that will be submitted to the party leadership. In the paper, we categorically stated that Misihairabwi-Mushonga has failed the party and should be removed from her post.

“We also demanded the national council meeting be convened immediately to address pressing matters in the party. We also stated that if Ncube or Misihairabwi-Mushonga do not want to call for the meeting, we will convene it ourselves because a party does not belong to an individual,” the sources added.

The smaller MDC faction has been in the doldrums following its drubbing in the harmonised elections where it lost all seats it had in Parliament and only managed to savage some through proportional representation.

Since then, daggers have been out for Misihairabwi-Mushonga as party members want her recalled from the National Assembly claiming her selection was irregular, with Ncube accused of fighting in her corner.

Recently firebrand MDC director of policy and research, Qhubani Moyo quit the party last week to concentrate on other businesses.

However, insiders said his resignation was motivated by frustration over how the party was being run.

Efforts to get a comment from Ncube proved futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.

Deputy party spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi however, professed ignorance of the meeting saying “informal meetings are healthy for a party like MDC. But, major decisions can only be made by the national council. All those who have grievances, know the right channels to use to get them addressed.”

On the plot to dethrone Misihairabwi-Mushonga, Chihwayi said “We are a democratic party. Everybody is allowed to join and resign at anytime.

“We are reading it in the newspapers that some want Misihairabwi-Mushonga recalled from the National Assembly. If that is true, the so-called members should put their request in writing.”

GOOD ADVICE: Do something for yourself, for your family. Don't waste your time talking politics while? others are enjoying their lives with money without politics. See how this Zimbabwean poor woman became a millionaire just by buying and selling solar panels to the people in rural areas/villages so they can have electricity easily and very cheap. Very interesting. Go to SOLARTECH.CO , not dot com, to see? the methods and companies she was using. SOLARTECH.CO , not dot com. Wake up Africans

I'm busy making applications for a job therefore I have no time to attend to stupid journalists asking stupid questions. I no longer care whatever happens in that stupid party of back-stabbers calling itself the MDC. Let those with nothing else to do waste their time on stupid issues. I'm done with politics!

Welshman Ncube - 7 October 2013

It is an open secret that Ncube and Priscilla Misihairambi Mushonga have a strong bond beyond politics. Vanonazvisana zvinhu and they have failed to seperate this from business and instead put the MDC into disrepute. Welshman Ncube will always ensure that he strategically positions this woman even if the party supporters don't like her. Its a pity that we still have such high profile women in politics who are still using bottom power to get to the top. The inclusion of Misihairambwi in parliamenent even her appointment to cabinet in the past GNU was always a cause for concern as she never won elections in her constituency. If I were Priscilla I would gracefully step down and focus my life on other things as this imposition will always haunt her. I thought Welshman Ncube was a professional now I understand the mystry behing the late Dr Chris Mushonga's death its because Ncube and Priscilla are love birds.

I have to confess, this is my favourite politician in the land...she does not need this. Why does she not leave this post and concentrate on rebuilding the party which is her real brief as SG. Now she has lost Qubani who was an important cog on the wheel while distracted with this useless parliamentary seat..Walk away good madam, you dont need this! Go back to your real brief and start rebuilding the party for 2018.
