We need improvement in public health services

EDITOR — I commend you on your story on the condition of Zimbabwean hospitals.

Government has neglected this area for years.

Several people have died from curable diseases like malaria, dysentery, cholera and even flu because either the doctors were on strike or there was no medicine.

The condition of our public health facilities is deplorable.

This is the reason why several people have turned to pharmacists.

We simply diagnose ourselves and then go to buy the medicine.

It’s risky but what can we do?

It is as if being poor is a crime. If only some those in authority would turn to those general hospitals to seek treatment, they would see for themselves what we have to endure everyday.

Rather, they have their own personal doctors and clinics while the electorate die like flies everyday
